July 28 - Door Decor

The opening of the new store was SO much fun on Saturday!  I've missed so many of my scrapbooking friends the past few months and it was so good to see everyone again! :)  Can't wait to see everyone at the crops and the classes coming up in August.  It REALLY got my scrapbooking mojo flowing again and I got so inspired seeing all of the new products, samples and just seeing everyone there excited about being able to get together again.  I have so many layout ideas floating around up in my brain - can't wait to actually get them out onto paper.

And there is so much going on!  I thought I was done being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in a few days since I didn't make my minimum orders to stay on this quarter, but now I find out that I do actually have enough to stay on, which is what I'm going to do - yay!  So I opened up my Stampin' Success magazine that demos get tonight to take a look and what falls out?  A fun sample of the new Decor Elements that Stampin' Up! just came out with.  Basically they are BIG rubons for walls!  YAY!

Well, the girls have been after me for months to re-decorate their room.  When we decorated it the way it is now Audrey wasn't even born yet and we had no idea if she was going to be a girl or boy, so we painted it a neutral tan color.  Not too fun or exciting 5 years later for a 5 year old and a 3 year old.  So Audrey found a Tinkerbell room she absolutely wants that is all blues and greens, which we'll do here soon but the outside of their door will have to stay brown to match the hallway.  Still boring!  Well....after tonight, not anymore!



We applied the Decor Element flower they sent to the outside of their door then used some pink Kaiser bling and Doodlebug letters from the Scrapbooking Cafe to embellish it a little more.  It was SO easy to apply, just use a credit card to rub it on!  I'm so happy with how it turned out.  I didn't want anything too huge on the door since it is a small hallway but this was the perfect size! :)

So with no more delay - here is today's SUPER EASY project.  And a quick side note that I spent a lot of today working on the recipe club sample and it is almost done so if I get it finished enough tomorrow I'll get it posted on the blog tomorrow! :)

Door Decor

Ingredients:

• Decor Elements Flower (Stampin' Up!)
• Pink Rhinestones (Kaiser)
• Brown Letter Stickers (Doodlebug Designs)
• Credit Card

Instructions:

1- Peel off the grid paper backing on your Decor Element.  The remaining side with the rub-on will be sticky.  Stick the sticky side where you want your element to be.
2- Using your credit card, rub the design from the front then slowly peel the paper from the design.  If the design starts to peel up with the paper stick it back down and rub it just a little harder until you get it to stick when you peel up.
3- Add your rhinestones to the petals (Audrey loved doing this part)
4- Add your letters for your name(s).  The trick when you want them to be centered is to start with the middle letter of the name and work your way out both ways.  So with Audrey's I applied the D first, and with Nat's I did her middle A first.

July 25 - Live Loudly Page

To anyone who knows me it's no secret that I LOVE Fancy Pants Designs.  So when I got some of the new Glitter Cuts they have I couldn't wait to use them!  They're die cut transparencies, but WITH GLITTER!  Now you know how I am with the clear, add some glitter to it and I think I've died and gone to heaven. :)

So here goes!

Live Loudly Page

Ingredients:

• 2 sheets of Patterned Paper (Fancy Pants)
• Chipboard Letters (Fancy Pants)
• Black Paint (Making Memories)
• Glitter Cuts (Fancy Pants)
• Felt Frame (Fancy Pants)
• White Pen (Signo)
• And your trusty sewing machine!

Instructions:

1-  Cut the top paper on a curved line, adhere it and sew the bottom border to the bottom paper.
2- Make sure your glitter cut frames fit around your photos OK then adhere your photos to the page.  Leave your glitter cuts off for now.
3- Adhere your felt frame around your photos, then sew it onto the page.  It may look too thick to sew on but it is not - and looks great when it is done.
4- Now adhere your glitter cuts over your photos, leaving the glitter flower parts to overlap your felt frame you just sewed on.  I sewed a few of the glitter cut frame edges on these too just to make sure they held good.
5- Paint your title letters and adhere on top of the felt frame.  I used 3D adhesive to do this since the frame is thick.
6- with your white pen dot around the left side edges of your bottom letters.

July 21 - Guest Blogging at Couture

I spent ALL DAY yesterday cleaning my scrap room so I could get ready for this week - LOTS of creating, the new scrapbook store here opens on SATURDAY and I have a ton to finish up for the grand opening. Finishing my class projects, creating samples for the store and creating a Make n' Take for Saturday. July 17 - Dress Form Class

There are few things I have been as excited about as much as much as I am about the new scrapbooking store opening here in Mansfield, The Scrapbooking Cafe, a week from Saturday. Jenn and Debbie left this morning for CHA in Chicago to get all of the latest and greatest for the store and I can't wait to see what they come home with (and Amanda - I told Jenn about your special request)! Newsletters are going out this week and an e-mail newsletter will be coming out hopefully this weekend.

Well today's project is something that I can't post blog instructions for because I'm teaching it for the first class at the new store. The class is called "Dress it Up!" and in it we will be making this fun wire dress form that you can use to display your jewelry or use it as a home decor piece! It's taller than you probably think it is - it is 21" tall. We will be using the new and completely gorgeous Euphoria line from Basic Grey.

Here are the class details!

Dress It Up
Saturday, August 9
10:00 am - Noon
$30

Description: Make a home decor item that will be sure to draw "ooh's and aaah's" from every visitor to your home. We will be decorating a black metal table top dress form with a gorgeous skirt of patterned paper, flowers, pearls and your favorite photos.

Need to bring: Scissors
Everything else to make this will be provided, you don't even need to bring photos if you don't want to - you can clip them to your skirt when you get home. If you DO want to bring photos, you will need wallet sized photos (most photo labs can print your digital photos out in wallet sizes).

If you'd like to take the class just call the store at (419) 524-CAFE and leave a message that you'd like to register for the class with your phone number and we'll call you back and confirm your registration next week. Sign ups will be taken in the order the messages are received. You can also see the sample of the class project in person at the store's grand opening next Saturday, July 26th and sign up then.

July 16 - Floating Frame

Back to blogging!  It's been too long!  I've been really busy with about a million things this summer (doesn't it always seem that way?) but I will have a ton to post the rest of this month so I figured I'd better get cracking and get some of these projects posted!

I did this first one as an experiment - the project is VERY easy to re-create!  And I love how it turned out!

And just on a quick side-note before I get to the instructions, I started another Etsy store and blog - this one for the name frames that I've been having so much fun making.  I'll have ideas on the blog frequently for different ways to use the frames.  The frames make a great wedding, shower or housewarming gift and if you already have your own frame I have the store set up so you can just buy the letter prints to add to your own frame if you would like.

OK - back to the project! :)

Floating Frame

Ingredients:

• 5"x7" Frame, preferably with flat sides so it will stand on its own.
• White Rubons (Stampin' Up!)
• White Signo Pen (Stampin' Up!)
• Pearls (Kaiser Craft)
• Thin Super Tape 

Instructions:

1- Take the back completely out of the frame and set the glass aside - you'll add it back in a bit.
2- Take your Super Tape and line the inside lip around the whole frame (where the glass overlapped)
3- Peel off the tape backing and place your glass into the frame, pressing down on where you added the tape to adhere it well.
4- Using your Signo pen, create your dots around the glass - close to the frame itself to create a little dotted border.
5- Apply your rubons then add your pearls on top of the rubons.
6- Tuck your 4"x6" photo under the top and bottom (and maybe side?) lips of the frame to hold it in place.  You can use a little more of the clear super tape on the top and bottom where you tuck the photo to hold it into place more if you would like.

I had the girls draw from tickets in a bucket as soon as they woke up this morning - so hence the PJ's and the messy hair! :)  Thanks so much to everyone who posted comments this past weekend - I LOVED reading what everyone loves to do lately and I have some new things to try now too thanks to all of the ideas posted!  I loved the comment from heyhoewarren about "No more keeping stuff for GOOD" - I do that ALL THE TIME!  I hate doing it, but I do!  And I am going to try not to anymore - if I have something I like, I'm going to USE it - not just keep it and look at it longingly in the package. :)

And I apologize for posting this a few days late.  The craft show this past weekend was a complete washout (literally).  It didn't rain in the morning which was good, but it was VERY windy and my stuff kept blowing off of the tables.  UGH.  Then around 2pm it started to downpour with no warning and quite a bit of my stuff got wet.  Some of it was in bags and I could save it, just put new packaging on it - but some of my frames got broken, wet, etc.  So I've been spending the past few days going through my boxes of stuff and trying to see what I could save and what I can't.

June 26 - NG

Tonight I went up to my scrap room to grab my camera battery that had just charged and out of NO WHERE the urge to make this just hit me! And it felt SO GOOD to just scrap something for no reason and just play around with it! YAY! Tara at Pageframe Designs had sent me this 12"x12" thick sheet that I've been dying to use. Then I was on Etsy the other night and saw the CUTEST alphabet die cut from a fun little store called The Scrappy Shack - it's the letter circle that I used for the title. Lori who owns the store was SUPER sweet and made me one in white and black - she'll make one in any color you ask for!

AND finally - I used my scalloped circle punch from Stampin' Up! for the background of the flowers which will BE INCLUDED in my blog prize package for this weekend! (Details will be posted about it tomorrow!) It's my favorite punch ever and I'm so excited that I have an extra one to give away! :) So be sure to stop back again tomorrow (or throughout the weekend) to get your entry in!

Ingredients:

• Black Grid Clear Sheet (Pageframe Designs)
• Black Swirl Die Cut Cardstock (KI Memories)
• Glitter Cardstock
• Alphabet circle die cut (The Scrappy Shack Etsy Store)
• White Signo Pen (Stampin' Up!)
• Scalloped Circle Punch (Stampin' Up!)
• Glitter Cardstock letters (K&Co.)
• Rhinestones (Kaiser Crafts)
• White paper flowers (Prima)
• White Scalloped tag (Martha Stewart Crafts)

Instructions:

1 - Peel your protective coating from the back of your patterned clear sheet.
2 - Adhere your 12" x 12" die cut cardstock sheet on top of the clear sheet.
3 - Adhere your photo.
4 - Turn your glitter cardstock over, and flip your letter circle over and trace the inside of the circle with a pencil. Cut it out making the circle you cut just a little bit larger than the circle you just drew so it will lay under the alphabet circle. Adhere them both on the page, laying the glitter cardstock down first, then the alphabet circle.
5 - Add your white scalloped tag, then your chipboard letters, then once those are adhered write your journaling.
6 - Assemble your flowers by punching your scalloped circle, adding your flower on top, then adhering a rhinestone to each center.
7 - Scatter them on your page and adhere them.
8 - With your white signo pen make dots around the black swirls linking to each of the flowers, starting from the bottom.

June 21 - Cutie Page

Oh why am I such a glutton for punishment? :) My dad told me early this week about a FREE craft show downtown this weekend for the city's bicentennial celebration and so like an idiot I signed up. Then I have another one in Ashland next weekend. So guess what I have been doing?

CREATING!

I did learn a few helpful things at the last craft show I did a few weeks ago. One major thing was that there are SO many people who still don't "get" the scrapbooking thing. Oh how, oh how can that be??? :)
I had one lady walk up to me with a set of note cards in her hand and said "Can you explain these to me and what I would do with them?" I honestly wasn't sure how to respond! I just said "Well, you would give them to people?" Uh - wish I had been more prepared for that one. And there were so many people that picked up the ticket alphas and said "Now what would I do with these?" SO -->
I made a few example pages for in the booth so people can see what to do with them. Hopefully it will help!

Oh and one more thing before the instructions!!! I'm going to have a giveaway on the blog tomorrow (Friday) because I most likely won't be able to post this weekend due to being at the show. So stop by to check it out - I promise to make it GOOD!

Cutie Page

Ingredients:

• Pink Ticket Alphas (My Etsy Store)
• Journaling Circle (My Etsy Store)
• Patterned Paper (Scenic Route, words - Prima, green)
• Chipboard scalloped border (Fancy Pants Designs)
• Bling swirls (Prima)
• Pearl paint (Lil' Davis Designs)
• Silver transparency border (Hambly Screenprints)
• 8-1/2 x 11 Pageframe (Pageframe Designs)

Instructions:

1- Paint your chipboard with the pearl paint and allow to dry. I applied this to the outside of the frame after I had made my page and put it in the frame. Once it dries you can add your bling swirls.
2- Add your photo to the page, then your transparency border on the right hand side.
3- Staple your ticket title above and slightly overlapping your photo.
4 - Cut your strip of coordinating paper for under the photo and adhere it.
5 - Journal on your circle then adhere it over the bottom of your photo and over the strip.
6 - Slide it in the Pageframe then adhere your chipboard border.

June 20 - Clear Album Page Fridge Frame

You may have seen something like this I have made before (but not on this blog!) but I come from a house with a husband whose HUGE pet peeve is "Fridge Clutter". OK, well - ANY clutter, not just on the fridge, but you get my drift. So if I want to put something on the fridge I can't just slap a picture up there with a magnet - OH NO. I've got to make it look good. Non-cluttery. (Is that a word? I think not!)

So I have 3 "frames" on there made from leftover clear album pages. When you make a clear album do you always use all of the pages? I don't! So if you don't have any extra pages just think next time you make one to just leave a page out and make a fridge frame out of it! :) OR - I happen to know that Two Peas in a Bucket is going to be selling just the pages here in the next few weeks so you can now build your own clear albums which would give you enough to make Christmas presents for the grandparents!

This frame -->
is one that I made for the craft show I did last weekend. You can just clip whatever 4x6 photo you want onto it so you can change it out as often as you want!

Clear Album Page Fridge Frame

Ingredients:

• Clear Album Page (Pageframe Designs)
• Clear Heart (Pageframe Designs)
• White Pen (Signo, Stampin' Up!)
• Clip (Making Memories)
• Patterned Paper (Fancy Pants Designs)
• Rub-on (My Minds Eye)
• Ribbon (Couture Scrapbooking)
• Magnet strips (any craft store)
  

Instructions:
1 - Cut your patterned paper strip to fit on the page and apply your rub-on to it. Adhere it to the clear page at an angle.
2 - Cut your ribbon to fit across the bottom of the title strip and adhere it with super tape.
3 - Decorate your clear flower and adhere that on the page as well.
4 - Turn the page over and add two magnet strips towards the top and bottom of the page that will be covered by the title strip and the photo you will be clipping on in the next step.
5 - Clip on your photo and hang it on your fridge!
