MDS Blog Hop - Valentines Day

For today's MDS Blog Hop, we were all challenged to create a project for Valentine's Day. I started out with the 11 x 81/2" template page from the First Edition Designer Series paper set which had a butterfly on it. When I got done playing with it though, the ONLY thing left was the background paper. HA! But that's alright!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday and enjoy all of the My Digital Studio goodness! I'm going to be posting my two big MDS announcements this weekend, so please check back! We also have a guest blogger this week on the list - Kelly Birrell!

Card Night Card #2

Here's the second of three cards we made last night. I absolutely LOVE the colors in the Twitterpated collection, so I used those instead of trying to invent my own color combo.

To get the alternating petals on the big flower, you just stamp the same flower twice with Island Indigo ink - once on Whisper White cardstock, and once on Pool Party. Punch both out and cut three of the petals on the white one to the center of the flower. Then adhere them alternating over the Pool Party flower.

I also ran a little Pear Pizzazz ink over the textured cardstock with a sponge to make the dots stand out more.

Club Night Card #1

Yep, I know I missed the past few days on the blog. But the good news is that I'm going to make it up today with 3 card idea posts that my club made last evening!

This card was the simplest of the three we made, but was my favorite. A similar design was featured in Stampin' Success this month, which is an idea magazine sent monthly to Stampin' Up! demonstrators. I always love the ideas they have in there, but don't always have the time to make them. This one I had to try! I put my own spin on it with the textured background and the flowers. And the technique we learned for this card is that it is always hard to get a "clean" image when you have a stamp that has a lot of dark areas without details. You'll get spots, you'll get lines, you'll get areas just not filled in that well by your ink. The way around that is to just color in those areas with the coordinating Stampin' Write marker (in this case, Basic Black). Once you get done it will look like you stamped it perfectly!

And those little tiny green leaves? Just punch the same flowers out of green and cut the petals off to make leaves. Easy! Check back today for two more card ideas!

Scrapbook Sunday - The Drive to Win

Today is a quick drive-by post. It's late, and I'm trying to get all of the Girl Scout cookie orders put together. It's taking much longer than I thought it would!

A few months ago I was contacted by Stampin' Up! and asked to make some projects using My Digital Studio for their Leadership event. Of course, I jumped at the chance! But then I got my assignments and lo and behold...one was a sports page. UGH! I have no children that play or have EVER played a sport. Well, lucky for me my friend Christa let me use some of her son's soccer photos. It was so fun! Now I can't wait to get some sports photos of our own to use.

Keep watching the blog in the next few days - I have some VERY EXCITING My Digital Studio news to share very shortly! :)

Simple Saturday - Thanks in Gray & Black

It's Simple Saturday and I was so inspired when I got home from a wonderful Open House put on by my downline demonstrator, Connie. We made the 3 cutest cards! And when I got home I had the mojo to head to the scrap room and make today's card (and she'll be happy to know that Whitney used her white pen!).

Now don't be fooled. When I ordered the Blossom Builder kit from the new Occasions Mini catalog, it wasn't for the beautiful textured flowers. It was for the PINK BLING! (yay!)

Now, this card isn't completely over-the-top simple, but it's simple enough. Build some flowers, make your tag, then sew on some satin ribbon.

When designing cards, scrapbook pages, etc. don't forget the rule of threes. Three is always more pleasing to the eye than three or four. Try it and see! :)
