January 18 - Clear Embossed Card
I apologize for having to remove this day's project - it has been chosen to appear in the July 2009 issue of CARDS magazine. I will add it back as soon as the issue is out in stores. Thank you!
I had SO much fun making today's card. Those WONDERFUL ladies from The Scrapbooking Cafe were so sweet and gave me a Sizzix Big Shot for Christmas that I have not had my hand off of since I got it. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this thing and everything you can do with it. Then on Friday I got my new Spring/Summer Catalog and Idea Book from Stampin' Up! and am SO excited about all of the new Sizzix dies, embossing plates, etc. they now have - I am in SO much trouble. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

January 10 - Clear Valentine Card
It is honestly downright embarrassing how long it has been since I've posted a project on this blog and I do apologize. I'm all about getting caught up and back on track this new year. :)I've had some health issues that have made it very frustrating to work with my hands, which is partly to blame for my absence in December. I'm learning to adjust and deal with it. I've done a ton of projects today since we're snowed in so I have a lot of things to post during the coming weeks.
I absolutely LOVE Valentines Day and clear cards so I decided to do both with today's project. The girls at the Scrapbooking Cafe were sweet enough to get me a Sizzix Big Shot for Christmas so I've been using the heck out of the Stampin' Up! Top Notes die.
Clear Valentine Card
Ingredients:
- Clear Card (Pageframe Designs)
- Priceless Stamp Set - Heart (SU!)
- Short & Sweet Stamp Set - Love You (SU!)
- Big fabric flower (Stampin' Up!, Pretties Kit)
- Silver Bookplate (Stampin' Up!, Hodgepodge Hardware)
- Whisper White and Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette Cardstock (SU!)
- Riding Hood Red and Versamark ink (SU!)
- White Signo Pen (SU!)
- Sizzix Top Notes Die (SU!)
- Silver Embossing Powder (SU!)
- Stampin' Dimensionals (SU!)
- Peel your protective coating off of your clear card
- Cut the same shape on your Sizzix with your Whisper White and Riding Hood Red cardstock. Trim your white shape around the perferations on the edges to make it slightly smaller than your red shape. Adhere them together, white on top. Adhere this shape to the inside of your clear card.
- Stamp your heart with Versamark ink on the Pink Pirouette cardstock. Sprinkle your silver embossing powder on it and heat emboss the image. Cut the heart out and put some Stampin' Dimensionals on the back. Adhere it to the front of the flower. Adhere the entire flower with heart on the front of your card covering most of your shape inside. This is where you can write or sign your card inside without having it show through because the flower will cover it.
- Stamp your "Love You" image in Riding Hood Red at an angle at the bottom of the white shape inside of the card.
- Line up your bookplate on the front with the card closed so that it will line up with the greeting inside of it and poke holes in the side of the bookplate where the holes are with sharp scissors. Insert your brads and cut off the ends of them before you spread out the prongs. This way they won't show through the front of the clear card.
- Dot around the 3 open sides of the front of your card with your white Signo pen.

August 22 - Clear Page Class
It's been a little while since I posted, so sorry about that! Life has definitely been keeping me busy with school coming up, etc. Today's project is for a class I'll be doing next Thursday at The Scrapbooking Cafe. It's a clear page class - the acrylic used for this page is very thick by Pageframe Designs and makes the page a great home decor piece. With the class you also get the brushed silver easel to hold it up on. So you'll make this complete project during class. I love the Jenni Bowlin line we'll be using for this so I'm very excited. I will also have a special little bonus project that we'll use with the scraps we have left over. :)
On a side note - I think this may be one of the first pictures of me I've used on a project in....um....like forever. I know a lot of people feel the same way, but I HATE pictures of myself. Especially now that I have glasses. I can never get them to look right or I always seem to look like a nerd. BUT I really have to get over it - like it or not, it is who I am and I don't want the girls to open their albums one day 20 years from now and say "Wait...did we have a mom while we were growing up?" UGH. So my personal scrapping goal for the next few months is to scrap more of me, whether I want to or not. And if you don't see my face smiling back at you from at least a few future blog posts, be sure to beat me up about it. :)
On that note - I'm off to the lake this morning with the girls to enjoy the morning with the sun, the sand, and the surf. Have a GREAT weekend and if you're signed up for my recipe class on Saturday - see you soon!!!!

June 26 - NG
Tonight I went up to my scrap room to grab my camera battery that had just charged and out of NO WHERE the urge to make this just hit me! And it felt SO GOOD to just scrap something for no reason and just play around with it! YAY! Tara at Pageframe Designs had sent me this 12"x12" thick sheet that I've been dying to use. Then I was on Etsy the other night and saw the CUTEST alphabet die cut from a fun little store called The Scrappy Shack - it's the letter circle that I used for the title. Lori who owns the store was SUPER sweet and made me one in white and black - she'll make one in any color you ask for!AND finally - I used my scalloped circle punch from Stampin' Up! for the background of the flowers which will BE INCLUDED in my blog prize package for this weekend! (Details will be posted about it tomorrow!) It's my favorite punch ever and I'm so excited that I have an extra one to give away! :) So be sure to stop back again tomorrow (or throughout the weekend) to get your entry in!
NG
Ingredients:
- Black Grid Clear Sheet (Pageframe Designs)
- Black Swirl Die Cut Cardstock (KI Memories)
- Glitter Cardstock
- Alphabet circle die cut (The Scrappy Shack Etsy Store)
- White Signo Pen (Stampin' Up!)
- Scalloped Circle Punch (Stampin' Up!)
- Glitter Cardstock letters (K&Co.)
- Rhinestones (Kaiser Crafts)
- White paper flowers (Prima)
- White Scalloped tag (Martha Stewart Crafts)
1 - Peel your protective coating from the back of your patterned clear sheet.
2 - Adhere your 12" x 12" die cut cardstock sheet on top of the clear sheet.
3 - Adhere your photo.
4 - Turn your glitter cardstock over, and flip your letter circle over and trace the inside of the circle with a pencil. Cut it out making the circle you cut just a little bit larger than the circle you just drew so it will lay under the alphabet circle. Adhere them both on the page, laying the glitter cardstock down first, then the alphabet circle.
5 - Add your white scalloped tag, then your chipboard letters, then once those are adhered write your journaling.
6 - Assemble your flowers by punching your scalloped circle, adding your flower on top, then adhering a rhinestone to each center.
7 - Scatter them on your page and adhere them.
8 - With your white signo pen make dots around the black swirls linking to each of the flowers, starting from the bottom.
Have a GREAT Thursday! :)

June 21 - Cutie Page
Oh why am I such a glutton for punishment? :) My dad told me early this week about a FREE craft show downtown this weekend for the city's bicentennial celebration and so like an idiot I signed up. Then I have another one in Ashland next weekend. So guess what I have been doing?CREATING!
I did learn a few helpful things at the last craft show I did a few weeks ago. One major thing was that there are SO many people who still don't "get" the scrapbooking thing. Oh how, oh how can that be??? :)
I had one lady walk up to me with a set of note cards in her hand and said "Can you explain these to me and what I would do with them?" I honestly wasn't sure how to respond! I just said "Well, you would give them to people?" Uh - wish I had been more prepared for that one. And there were so many people that picked up the ticket alphas and said "Now what would I do with these?" SO -->
I made a few example pages for in the booth so people can see what to do with them. Hopefully it will help!
Oh and one more thing before the instructions!!! I'm going to have a giveaway on the blog tomorrow (Friday) because I most likely won't be able to post this weekend due to being at the show. So stop by to check it out - I promise to make it GOOD!
Cutie Page
Ingredients:
- Pink Ticket Alphas (My Etsy Store)
- Journaling Circle (My Etsy Store)
- Patterned Paper (Scenic Route, words - Prima, green)
- Chipboard scalloped border (Fancy Pants Designs)
- Bling swirls (Prima)
- Pearl paint (Lil' Davis Designs)
- Silver transparency border (Hambly Screenprints)
- 8-1/2 x 11 Pageframe (Pageframe Designs)
1- Paint your chipboard with the pearl paint and allow to dry. I applied this to the outside of the frame after I had made my page and put it in the frame. Once it dries you can add your bling swirls.
2- Add your photo to the page, then your transparency border on the right hand side.
3- Staple your ticket title above and slightly overlapping your photo.
4 - Cut your strip of coordinating paper for under the photo and adhere it.
5 - Journal on your circle then adhere it over the bottom of your photo and over the strip.
6 - Slide it in the Pageframe then adhere your chipboard border.
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for the GIVEAWAY!

June 20 - Clear Album Page Fridge Frame
You may have seen something like this I have made before (but not on this blog!) but I come from a house with a husband whose HUGE pet peeve is "Fridge Clutter". OK, well - ANY clutter, not just on the fridge, but you get my drift. So if I want to put something on the fridge I can't just slap a picture up there with a magnet - OH NO. I've got to make it look good. Non-cluttery. (Is that a word? I think not!)So I have 3 "frames" on there made from leftover clear album pages. When you make a clear album do you always use all of the pages? I don't! So if you don't have any extra pages just think next time you make one to just leave a page out and make a fridge frame out of it! :) OR - I happen to know that Two Peas in a Bucket is going to be selling just the pages here in the next few weeks so you can now build your own clear albums which would give you enough to make Christmas presents for the grandparents!
This frame -->
is one that I made for the craft show I did last weekend. You can just clip whatever 4x6 photo you want onto it so you can change it out as often as you want!
Clear Album Page Fridge Frame
Ingredients:
- Clear Album Page (Pageframe Designs)
- Clear Heart (Pageframe Designs)
- White Pen (Signo, Stampin' Up!)
- Clip (Making Memories)
- Patterned Paper (Fancy Pants Designs)
- Rub-on (My Minds Eye)
- Ribbon (Couture Scrapbooking)
- Magnet strips (any craft store)
1 - Cut your patterned paper strip to fit on the page and apply your rub-on to it. Adhere it to the clear page at an angle.
2 - Cut your ribbon to fit across the bottom of the title strip and adhere it with super tape.
3 - Decorate your clear flower and adhere that on the page as well.
4 - Turn the page over and add two magnet strips towards the top and bottom of the page that will be covered by the title strip and the photo you will be clipping on in the next step.
5 - Clip on your photo and hang it on your fridge!

June 17 - Mini Chipboard Book
I woke up one Sunday a few weeks ago and thought - "I need to make some clear chipboard mini albums". I'm not kidding, these were SO easy to make that I whipped out 7 of them in like an hour. The chipboard squares I used were from a Stampin' Up! Christmas chipboard set, but you can cut your own from any chipboard to any size you would like your album to be.
Mini Chipboard Book
Ingredients:
- Chipboard
- Bind-it-all machine and wires
- Clear card with pattern (this uses the white grid pattern from Pageframe Designs)
- Patterned Paper of your choice
- White Cardstock
1- Cut your chipboard pieces (one solid for the back and one for the front, you can die cut a shape out of the middle like this one has a circle.)
2- Punch holes in chipboard with bind-it-all.
3- Cut clear card or sheet of patterned acrylic to fit over the cover of your book. Punch holes with bind-it-all.
4- Cut cardstock and as many patterned paper pieces as you would like to fit inside your book. Punch holes with bind-it-all.
5- Lay it all in a stack then bind it with your machine! On mine I did a mix of patterned paper, then cardstock - you can mix it up as much as you would like. Throw a few different patterns in there, or use two sided pieces and flip them back and forward. Be Creative!

May 21 - Friends Mini Clear Album
Well, yesterday was my birthday and it was a crazy day by all means so I'm posting yesterday's post a bit late.I LOVE these little clear mini albums from Pageframe Designs. I did this one for a Stampin' Up! class that I'm doing in June - the class is only $25, and includes the album, set of rub-ons and a white signo pen - everything to make this album -->
If you're not local but would still like the class kit with instructions please just send me an e-mail at holly.vandyne@gmail.com and I can ship you the complete kit with full instructions. Or if you ARE local and would be interested in taking the class, send me an e-mail as well and I will get you the date and details.
I won't be including instructions on this page for obvious reasons (they'll be in the kit) but it does make a gorgeous album for you, a friend, your children and their friends - whoever! And you can't see as well in the photo, but there is an elastic band with pearls and beads that wraps around from the back and keeps the album closed.
Hope you all had a great Wednesday!

May 2 - Feature Friday - Crop-A-Dile
It's time for another Feature Friday! Today's is a tool that I never thought I would ever want. I waited years to actually buy one. But once I did I couldn't figure out how I ever lived without it!It's the CROP-A-DILE!
Yeah, it does look a little intimidating - I think most of us girls are intimidated by big metal tools. And I can't believe how many people I have in my classes who when we go to use them on a project say "Oh, I have one of these but I've been too scared to use it." Oh, fear NOT brave ladies! Just get a few eyelets out and try it! I think the biggest mistake I've seen people make is they try using the eyelet setter at the head and middle of the tool to punch their holes. Won't work. :) The two different sized hole punchers are at the sides of the tool. Just slide whatever you want to punch in there and try it out. This amazing tool will punch through just about anything. Paper, metal, chipboard, some acrylic, whatever you feel that you need a hole in! Then just add your eyelet in the hole and set it with the middle part by squeezing the tool. It's that easy. Here is an acrylic Pageframe flower shape that I used to make a card out of with the Crop A Dile. Let your fear turn into an addiction!
Clear Flower Card
Ingredients:
- Clear Acrylic Flower (Pageframe Designs)
- Crop-A-Dile and silver eyelets (Stampin' Up!)
- Pink Paper Flowers (Prima)
- Rubon (Upsy Daisy Designs)
- Rhinestone Heart (Me & My Big Ideas)
1- Add your rubon to the center of the flower and then apply your rhinestone heart.
2- Hold the flower where you want it over each petal and then using the large hole punch on your Crop-a-Dile punch a hole in each "petal" through the pink flower and the acrylic.
3- Insert your eyelet through the hole you just punched in the flower and the acrylic and set it using the top of the Crop-A-Dile.
4- Send to someone special!
April 30 - Polka Dotted Clear Album
Well, after I got SO close to getting caught up last Saturday my ever-flaking wireless network decided to take a permanent holiday. So it took me a few days to get it back up and running - but it IS back up and running. So I have much more to post and will be doing so through the night tonight. Here's to catching up in style! :)I did this album for the Pageframes booth at CHA and absolutely loved doing it - SO fun! Just got it back today (thanks Kim!) and I had forgotten how much I loved it.
Polka Dotted Clear Album
Ingredients:
- Clear Patterned Album (Pageframe Designs)
- Square Patterned Scalloped Frame Shape (Pageframe Designs)
- Chipboard Letters (American Crafts)
- Ribbon (Fancy Pants Designs)
- Seal Rubon (Upsy Daisy Designs)
- White Pen (Sharpie)
- Rubon Letters (Heidi Swapp)
- Zots & Super Tape (Therm O Web)
1- Its kind of hard to see in the photo, but the cover has a label shape cut out of it. You can cut through this stuff with a Sizzix machine like BUTTER! :) On the inside cover I mounted a small patterned scalloped square frame shape with some mini Zots.
2- On the cover I put some small dots around a few of the large dots with my white paint pen. Then I added my seal rub-on over one of the larger circles. Then added the chipboard letters.
3- On the second page I added the ribbon to show through at the bottom under my title to help the title stand out more. Then I added more dots on the top and bottom. I adhered the ribbon with Super tape and it wraps around both the front and back of the page so it wouldn't look bad in the back.
4- I added my photos on the second page to show through the window opening on the cover. It took some creative cropping and arranging, but I finally got it to look OK.
5- Then decorate the rest of your pages (I used the same elements, along with pink vellum and rubon letters).

April 24 - Hanging Clear Star
I've never been a jewelry type of girl. My mom and aunt have always collected tons of it, and I think they have enough for me included. HOWEVER - I am certainly not opposed to using it on my pages or on home decor projects! So when they have a garage sale, I clean house on awesome jewelry for a quarter! Pins especially, they are so easy to use on stuff because you can either just take the back off or poke it through something to hold it in place like I did with the dragonfly pink I used on this star.Hanging Clear Star
Ingredients:
- 8" Clear Star (Pageframe Designs)
- Dragonfly Pin (or any other pin you may have)
- White Stazon ink (Tsukineko)
- "Flowers for a Friend" stamp set (Stampin' up!)
- Gold elastic cord (Stampin' Up!)
- Gold eyelets and Crop-A-Dile (Stampin' Up!)
- White cheeky board clips (Making Memories)
1- Using the white Stazon stamp your image around the edges and points of the star. Allow to dry.
2- Punch your holes on the top of your two side points for your cording to hang from. Add your eyelets. You may need to do another one at the top like I did if you pin is heavy enough to cause your star to keep falling to one side. This middle one will help keep it balanced. But test it first without the middle one to see if it will work with your pin.
3- Punch two holes for the sides of the pin to go through. This will allow the pin to attach together normally through the back of your star and hold it in place.
4- Tie your cording in place and hang it from what you plan to hang it from to see if it falls to one side. If so, just punch another hole and add another eyelet and more cord to the middle star point.
5- Clip your photo to the right side of the star.
6- Stamp or write your caption and clip that to the side as well.

April 16 - Clear Tag Flip Card
My dear friend Suzy's birthday is this coming Sunday. She's my crop buddy - once she even altered a mini deodorant for me (inside joke!). So I wanted to come up with something different for her card. It's kind of hard to tell from the photo but the little pink tag is actually 4 little pink tags with various stamps and messages on each so she could flip through them. I think it's kind of funny - I never thought I would want this Stampin' Up! tag punch and I bought it on a whim. WOW am I glad I did! It's now my favorite punch! :)

- Eyelets and Crop-A-Dile (Stampin' Up!)
- White Signo Pen (Stampin' Up!)

April 13 - Star Chipboard Frame
I sat down to make a new creation for my Etsy store and somehow ended up with this. I do love how it turned out. :) It's so hard for me to believe that my sweet little baby Nat will be 3 next month! I hardly remember her being this small.Star Chipboard Frame

- Black ink (Stampin' Up!)

- Zots (Therm O Web)
- Modge Podge
1- Using a foam brush cover the front of the chipboard with Modge Podge. Place the back of the patterned paper on top and press down, then let dry.
2- After it dries turn the chipboard over on its front and take a razor blade and run it around the edges to cut off the remainder of the paper.
3- Peel the protective sheet off both sides of the star. Using your white Signo pen dot around the edges of the star.
4- Hold the star over where you want it to lay on the frame and punch through both the acrylic shape and the chipboard with the smaller end of your Crop-A-Dile on the two star points that are over the chipboard. Don't worry - it cuts through it all like butter!
5- Stamp your stamp on the bottom center then add your Zots to the sides of your bookplate and put it around your stamped image. Add your small pearls to the sides over the brad holes.
6- Cut your lace cardstock out to fit over the chipboard, overlapping the edges slightly. Put your photo on top, then put your star over that. Then add your large brads through the holes you punched with the Crop A Dile.

April 12 - Love Layout
Well my obsession for using little photos is still going strong. :) This is a page I did for my Stampin' Up! Scrapbook Club group. It's a simple page, but fun to make. All items are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.I use Photoshop Lightroom to print my photos at the smaller size - instructions for doing that with the Lightroom program are included in the instructions below.

- Clear Flower Shape (Pageframe Designs)
- Crop-A-Dile
- Zots (Therm O Web)

3- Using your white signo pen dot around the top edges of the clear flower to define the shape.
4- Punch two big holes on two diagonal side petals.
5- Place your big clear flower over top of the diamond shape and poke holes in the paper through the holes in the sides of the flower for your brads. Don’t put the brads in yet.

April 11 - Clear Tag Wedding Card
Yep, it's another clear card! Just not a conventional one. Then again, when have I ever been conventional? :) This is a large polka dot patterned clear tag that I made into a card. It fits into a normal sized card envelope and makes a very unique greeting!Clear Tag Wedding Card

- Rhinestones (KaiserCraft)
- Ribbon (Anna Griffin)
- Patterned Paper (Stampin' Up!)

4- Using thin Super Tape adhere your ric rac to both sides of the card.
5- Add your ribbon to the top hole and write your greeting and signature on the back blank scalloped circle.
April 10 - Clear Easter Photo Card
I was going through the Easter photos I had taken a few weeks ago and came across this one that I loved. Natalie was in focus, but the egg wasn't so I turned the rest of the photo to sephia and left the color in the egg. So I printed it out in a 3" x 4" size and used it for an Easter card.I will also be having a small class in my home where we will be making 4 clear cards using the BRAND NEW patterned cards AND a clear scalloped mini album from Pageframe Designs. For more information and to sign up please just click here.
Clear Easter Photo Card
Ingredients:
- 3"x4" photo
- Clear Card (Pageframe Designs)
- Felt Frame and Patterned Paper (Fancy Pants Designs)
- White Sakura Pen (Stampin' Up!)
- "Short Order Alphabet Set" (Stampin' Up!)
- "Rough Edges Mini Alphabet Set" (Stampin' Up!)
- Close to Cocoa ink (Stampin' Up!)
- Vellum Tape Runner (Therm O Web)
1- Adhere your photo to the side of your patterned paper with the tape runner then adhere your felt frame on top with the tape runner.
2- With your sewing machine set to the zig zag stitch, stitch around the frame to adhere your paper/ photo to it. Then sew the center between your photo and the patterned paper.
3- Stamp your "U" and your "R" on the patterned paper inside of the frame.
4- Cut a sheet of patterned paper to fit the inside of the card but cut the top third of the sheet off. This will make the top of the card on both sides entirely clear. Lay your frame down on it like where it will be placed on the front of the card and stamp your letters under the frame.
4- Adhere your inside patterned paper you just stamped to the inside of the card, then adhere the frame to the front center of the clear card with your vellum tape runner.
5- Using your white signo pen make white dots around the edges of the front of the card that are not already covered by the frame.

April 6 - Hanging Mini Stars
I did these a little while ago, but they were incredibly fun and fast to make and now they are hanging in my kitchen.Hanging Mini Stars
Ingredients:
- Clear Mini Stars (Pageframe Designs)
- White Sharpie
- Cheeky Clips (Making Memories)
- Paper Flowers
- Rhinestones (Heidi Swapp)
- Mini Binder Rings (Office Max)
- Ribbon
- Crop-a-dile and Eyelets (WR Memory Keepers)
- Vellum Tape Runner (Therm O Web)
1- Print out your photos, align the stars on top of the photos until you get them the way you want them and trim them to the star shape. Use the vellum runner to add a little adhesive under the stars but adding a clip to each star will mostly hold them in place.

April 5 - Fridge Calendar
I hate when I have a vision of a project and by the time I am done it looks NOTHING like I had intended it to look. This would be one of those projects. And the sad thing - I did this project TWICE. I had JUST finished adhering all of the magnets and the clips and put it up on the fridge to see how it looked - well lo and behold, here comes Chad to get something off of the top of the fridge and KNOCKS IT OFF and broke it to pieces. I'm not kidding, this was like 5 minutes after I had hung it up there. UGH!So I found all the pieces, got another frame out and went to work again. But it uses a LOT of magnets and a LOT of clips and a LOT of Zots!
The cool thing about this project is that you can take the clips off and move them around each month to match the days without having to completely re-do the calendar every month since they are on magnets. And if you want to put an event in just unclip the number and clip a post it note, or whatever you want to it to remind you.
Fridge Calendar
Ingredients:
- 12" Pageframe (Pageframe Designs)
- Calendar Patterned Paper (Teresa Collins)
- Magnet Circles and Strips (Hobby Lobby)
- Cheeky Clips (Making Memories)
- Zots (Therm O Web)
- Font for numbers (Jane Austen- downloaded from internet)
- 12" x 12" cardboard
1- Stick your calendar paper into the frame and back it with the cardboard pieces. Add magnet stripping to the top, bottom and middle of the back of the frame.
2- Add a magnet circle to the top left of the first 37 squares with the Zots. These are the only squares on the paper that will ever have dates on them - no matter what month you are in.
3- Print your numbers out and trim them. Adhere them to the clips, then stick the clips on the magnets. You can use the bottom squares that are empty for a clip to hold notes for birthdays, events, or just the name of the month if you would like.
